Pluit Reservoir Park is located in Penjaringan Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta. Before being transformed into a park, this area that was once known as a pluit reservoir is a slum area with views of densely populated fiber settlements lined with perfumed houses surrounding a 80-hectare reservoir.
With the initiative in the leadership of Jokowi and Ahok, the Pluit Reservoir Park was created and has an area of around 6 hectares. Another 3 hectares of land will be used as a wastewater treatment plant and another 1 hectare will function as reverse osmosis (processing salt water into fresh water).
The Pluit Reservoir in the middle of the park is in the process of normalizing the function. A number of illegal building curbs have been carried out in the past few months, so that the west side of the Pluit Reservoir is now open and in the construction phase of the park to complete the garden atmosphere of the Pluit Dam in its entirety.
The presence of the Pluit Reservoir Park received a warm welcome from residents, especially residents of North Jakarta. The community can enjoy a beautiful, comfortable and beautiful atmosphere for free. Although the pungent odor originating from the Pluit Reservoir occasionally still smells, it seems that this is not a problem for residents to come to visit because the positive compensation given by this park is very fulfilling the community's need for shared open space.
This park can not only be enjoyed during the day, but it is even more crowded at night. In order for this park to be used properly by the community, it is necessary to have a park guard (security guard) who can maintain orderly use of the park properly.
Around the park there are various European-style garden chairs with typical organic arches on the hands and feet of the chair. Besides that, it also provides green open spaces filled with trees such as sea vines (Coccoloba uvifera), kalpataru / keben (Barringtonia asiatica), trembesi (Samanea saman), and small ficus leaves (Ficus lyrata), teak trees (Tectona grandis) and various bamboo tree species. The presence of this tree is expected to provide shade during the day because the Pluit reservoir area does feel hot and hot during the day.
