Sutoyo Siswomiharjo’s House
This house was the residence of one of the Revolutionary Heroes, Major General (Posthumous) Sutoyo Siswomiharjo is located on Jl. Sumenep No. 17 Menteng, Central Jakarta. This house was built around the 1930s with an Indische-style architectural model and was once the residence of officials of private companies of the Netherlands and Europe. In the 1950s this house was managed by the Army Housing Service and then it was occupied by Sutoyo as one of the high ranking officers of the Army.
This house was a silent witness of the kidnapping of Brigadier General Sutoyo Siswomiharjo, who at the time served as Inspector of the Army Justice / Prosecutor General in the early hours of 1 October 1965 during the G30S / PKI rebellion. During the incident, a group of Tjakrabirawa troops managed to get into the house and forcibly took Sutoyo who was still wearing sleepwear into a truck and then killed him viciously in the Lubang Buaya area, East Jakarta.
In the 1980s, veteran director Arifin C. Noer used this house as one of the locations for shooting the film "Pengkhianatan G30S / PKI" for the kidnapping scene of Sutoyo Siswomiharjo.
