Siswondo Parman’s House
The residence of one of the Revolutionary Heroes, Lieutenant General (Posthumous) Siswondo Parman is located on Jl. Serang No. 32 Menteng, Central Jakarta. Based on the notes in the book "Cultural Heritage Buildings in DKI Jakarta Province" published by the Museum and Restoration Department of DKI Jakarta Province in 2000, the house of S. Parman was built around the 1930s with an Indische-style architectural model and was once the home of officials of Dutch and European private companies . In the 1950s this house was managed by the Army Housing Service and then it was only occupied by S. Parman as one of the high ranking officers of the Army.
This house was a silent witness of the kidnapping of Major General Siswondo Parman who at that time served as Assistant I Minister / Commander of the Intelligence Division in the early hours of October 1, 1965 during the G30S / PKI rebellion. In this incident, a group of Tjakrabirawa forces managed to get into the house and forcibly took S. Parman to the Lubang Buaya area, East Jakarta and killed him viciously there.
S. Parman was the only General target of the G30S / PKI kidnapping which was successfully brought to life in Lubang Buaya in an army uniform. Another target of kidnapping that was successfully brought to life in Lubang Buaya was that no one had changed clothes or was wearing an army uniform. The other targets were D.I. Pandjaitan had actually been wearing an army service uniform but was eventually shot dead by kidnappers in front of his own house.
In the 1980s, veteran director Arifin C. Noer used the house as one of the locations for shooting the film "Pengkhianatan G30S / PKI" for the scene of kidnapping Siswondo Parman. Unfortunately the historic building has now been demolished and is not shaped like the original again after several times changing owners.
