In the past, this house was the residence of one of the Revolutionary Heroes, Lieutenant General (Anumerta) M.T. Haryono is located on Jl. Prambanan No. 8 Menteng, Central Jakarta. This house was built around the 1930s with an Indische-style architectural model and was once part of the Menteng area named Duracus Weg. Before being occupied by M.T. Haryono and his family, this house is the residence of officials of private companies of the Netherlands and Europe. In the 1950s this house was managed by the Army Housing Agency and later occupied by M.T. Haryono as one of the high ranking officers of the Army.
This house became a silent witness of the kidnapping of Major General M.T. Haryono, who was then Deputy III Minister / Commander in Chief of Planning and Development in the early hours of October 1, 1965 during the G30S / PKI rebellion. In the dark event, M.T. Haryono was shot dead at his home after trying to grab a weapon from the Tjakrabirawa forces who were trying to kidnap him. M.T. Haryono was one of three Revolutionary Heroes who died at his own residence when they were about to be kidnapped besides Ahmad Yani and D.I. Pandjaitan, while four other Revolutionary Heroes were kidnapped and then brutally murdered in the Lubang Buaya area, East Jakarta.
In the 1980s, veteran director Arifin C. Noer used this house as one of the locations for shooting the film "Pengkhianatan G30S / PKI" for the scene of the kidnapping of M.T. Haryono.
