Mayor Inf. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, M.sc., M.p.a., M.a, Tokoh

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, M.Sc., M.P.A., M.A. or now usually called "AHY" is the eldest son of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Agus was born in Bandung on August 10, 1978. Agus was the recipient of the Adhi Makayasa - Tri Sakti Wiratama award, or the best graduate of the Military Academy of the Republic of Indonesia (Akabri) in 2000.

 

In the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, Agus advanced to become one of the candidates for the Governor of DKI Jakarta in pairs with Hj. Slyviana Murni is supported by a number of parties namely the Democratic Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the National Mandate Party (PAN). In the first round of the DKI Jakarta Election 2017, the pair Agus-Sylvi was immediately eliminated and had to accept defeat because the number of votes was the smallest compared to the other candidates so that they were unable to qualify for the second round.

 

Coming from a family that has a strong military tradition where one of his grandfathers, Sarwo Edhie Wibowo is a commander of RPKAD (Kopassus) who is known to lead the eradication of the G30S / PKI rebellion, almost half of Agus's youth was spent serving the country as a soldier before finally deciding to resign from TNI service with the last rank of Major to advance in the 2017 Jakarta Election.

The educational background that Agus has taken is the Military Academy (Indonesia), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), S. Rajaratnama School of International Studies (Singapore), John F. Kennedy School of Government Harvard University (United States) and George Herbert Wlker School of Business and Technology Webster University (United States).

Throughout his military career, Agus has undergone field assignments several times including the ongoing Aceh conflict and as part of the UN peacekeeping force serving in Lebanon. Agus's last position before officially resigning from the TNI was as the Commander of the 203th Mechanical Infantry Battalion / Arya Kemuning.

Agus married a former model and television presenter, Annisa Larasati Pohan on July 8, 2005 and was blessed with a daughter named Almira Tunggadewi Yudhoyono. Coinciding with his 39th birthday on 10 August 2017, Agus launched a practical non-political study institute called The Yudhoyono Institute where Agus served as Executive Director. At present Agus is active in politics together with the Democratic Party.
